Indie (and Muzak) fan favorite Foster The People encourage the remix culture’s engagement with their music. A simple glance at the search results for “Foster The People Remix” on the Hype Machine turns up literally thousands of results. Like most selections of remixes, however, most of the new takes are forgettable at best and occasionally border on unlistenable because of those gol’ darn teenagers noise dubstep fetish. So it’s refreshing to hear the cream of the crop, as selected personally by the band itself. Foster the People just uploaded four remixes of their songs that they presumably consider worthy of our attention. And they are. Two of these – the remixes of “Houdini” and “Pumped Up Kicks” have been out there for some time, but Cruelty and Kreap’s takes on “Don’t Stop” and “Helena Beat” are pretty much undiscovered. We’re happy to bring them to light.
